2025 Slater-Maguire Lecture

Author Philip Christman will deliver this year’s Slater-Maguire Lecture, “Haunted All The Way Down,” about his disenchantment with “disenchantment.” Christman teaches writing at the University of Michigan and is the editor of the Michigan Review of Prisoner Creative Writing. He is the author of Midwest Futures, How To Be Normal, and Why Christians Should Be Leftists (Eerdmans, September 2025). Christman will preach on October 5, and lecture on October 6.
He will also be at McNally Robinson on October 4 to launch his new
book at an event hosted by Ryan Turnbull.
